In 2020, the college board started the new World History test that only goes from the 1200s to the present. Previously, the test covered the entirety of world history. The test is split into 9 different units that correspond to certain years in world history, with different weights on each era.
The Units are:

| 4)Transoceanic Interconnections | 1450-1750 | 12-15 | -Exploration of the new world and colonial/maritime empires. |
| 5)Revolutions | 1750-1900 | 12-15 | -The new ideas and developments that led to revolutions throughout the world. |
| 6)Consequences of Industrialization | 1750-1900 | 12-15 | -How states acquired and expanded control over colonies(Imperialism) |
| 7)Global Conflict | 1900-Present | 8-10 | -Global Conflicts(World Wars,Genocides,changes in political order) |
| 8)Cold War and Decolonization | 1900-Present | 8-10 | -Struggle between capitalism vs socialism |
